4-Year College/University
  • College entrance exams:  SAT and ACT
  • Take end of junior year and if necessary, in October or November of senior year.  These cost approximately $55 each to take.  Put your college choices on your SAT and ACT registration so they will receive your scores.

    • You must be A-G ready!  Any D’s or F’s received in high school A-G classes must be repeated with a C or better.  See your counselor.
    • Apply to college during October and November of your senior year.  Applications cost $55 to $75 each.
    • Put your college choices on your FAFSA application, Cal Grant and/or Dream Act applications.

​The New SAT and the CSU
The new SAT exam is now available for all students. The CSU will accept both old and new SAT exam scores from students currently in grades 9 – 12 (graduating before 2020). Any students graduating after 2020 will be required to take the new SAT. CSU applicants are not required to complete the optional essay portion of the test. For more information on the test, visit The College Board.
Free SAT Test Prep for StudentsFor the first time ever, all students (regardless of educational or financial background) now have access to SAT test preparation programs free of charge. Through partnership with Khan Academy, these provided programs and supplemental materials are necessary resources to better prepare for the SAT and to drive college success. For students taking the current SAT, these resources are available at www.sat.org/practice or www.khanacademy.org/sat.
ACT
The ACT college entrance exam has test sections in English, Math, Science, Reading, and an optional Writing test.  Perfect score is 36.

Get a two-year degree from a community college.  Find out what majors are offered in community colleges, and see what salary you can expect to receive from a job that requires your college major.
2-Year Community College
  • Apply in March and April of your senior year
  • Application is free
  • College entrance exam is the “Accuplacer.”  It is free.  Study for it so you can be placed in college- level classes after high school, from the start of college.
  • Transfer after two years to a 4-year college, if you want to.  Ask your college counselor about guaranteed transfer programs right away!

California Private Colleges & Universities
Stanford, USC, and University of Redlands are private California universities.  It is most likely that you will fill out​ The Common Application when you apply for any of the California private colleges and universities during your senior year.
